NMHC Webinar: New National Green Building Standard

After two years of work, the National Green Building Standard  (NGBS) has finally been approved and will be published in the spring of 2009.

The NGBS is critical to the apartment industry for two reasons.  First, it offers apartment firms that want to do green building, or that are increasingly required to do so by policymakers, an alternative to guidelines designed for high-rise commercial properties or single-family houses.

Just as importantly, it offers the growing number of states and localities that are considering mandatory green building requirements a more appropriate alternative for residential properties than non-standardized green rating systems like the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED criteria.

On February 17, NMHC sponsored a webinar to:

  • help apartment firms understand how to build green and what makes sense for their particular projects.
  • help apartment firms and their advocates understand how to use it to their benefit at the state and local level.

Because this issue is so important for the industry as an advocacy issue and to facilitate more sustainable development, NMHC is offering this webinar at no cost to the entire industry.
