Privacy – Data Security and Disposal Requirement:

Privacy – Data Security and Disposal Requirement

Apartment owners and managers collect, use and maintain significant amounts of personal information through both renter and employee application processes, as well as other operational functions. Personal information typically includes name, address, social security number and driver’s license number, as well as additional information found in leases, financial records, insurance records and other documentation. As technology and business innovation continue to evolve, there is growing concern over the proper protection and use of that personal information. Consequently, there is growing pressure on the government to establish federal privacy policy to protect consumers and hold businesses accountable.
