2014 NMHC/Kingsley Package Delivery Survey

2014 NMHC/Kingsley Package Delivery Survey

  • In 2014, Americans will spend roughly $300 billion on products ordered on the Internet. This volume is affecting all the stakeholders in the long, logistical chain of package delivery, from the retailers to the package carriers—and even the apartment communities charged with the holding and hand off of packages to their residents.

Roughly nine out of 10 apartment communities accept packages on behalf of their residents, investing staff time, resources and space into the management of these parcels. Residents value this service, with 78 percent saying package delivery and holding areas are either important or very important to them.

But increasing package volumes are taxing the status quo.

NMHC and Kingsley Associates recently partnered on the 2014 Package Delivery Survey to find out how apartment communities are dealing with the growing demands of package deliveries.  The study included community managers from 28 industry-leading multifamily firms who own and/or operate over 1.4 million units across the United States.  Fully 2,768 community managers responded.

This nationwide report and 17 detailed market reports cover:
