Marvin Banks is President of M. Banks Realty Partners focused on arbitrage investment plays in the multifamily arena. During his career he has developed a proven skill set encompassing leadership, complex decision analysis and strategic planning. He also serves as Chairman of BluTrend, the proprietary ancillary service firm in the multifamily sector, as a director for the Private Bank of Buckhead and Decatur and teaches a course on REITs in the graduate school at Emory University he developed. He served on the faculty at The University of Texas at Austin and in the graduate/doctoral program at Georgia State University in addition to currently serving as Chairman of the Children’s Museum of Atlanta and as a board member of the Georgia Council for International Visitors. 

Marvin was a leader in the evolution of partnerships under the Trammell Crow umbrella into an industry leading public company listed on the NYSE - Gables Residential and retired from Gables upon its sale to ING in 2005. His primary responsibilities were concentrated on capital market activities, external communications, and strategic planning. Subsequent to the IPO, Marvin was instrumental in developing numerous innovative capital market products that allowed the company to be one of the first of its peers to achieve an investment grade balance sheet rating from Moody's and Standard & Poor's. He helped lead the firm's evaluation, negotiation, due diligence and integration of M&A activity involving a $365 million acquisition and the ultimate sale of Gables to ING for $2.8 billion. 

During Marvin's tenure with Cortland Partners he oversaw the on-boarding of property management operations, organizational infrastructure, strategic planning and capital market efforts as the firm evolved from 2,000 apartments to 11,000 apartments in a 3 year window becoming recognized as a thought leader in the industry.
