The Midterm Elections are just two short weeks away and NMHC PAC continues to prioritize supporting key candidates that are working on issues affecting the multifamily industry, regardless of party affiliation.
Currently, the political landscape is one of the most volatile and unpredictable in years. To win control of the House, Democrats will need a net pickup of 23 seats. Although many pundits have predicted that this November will bring a blue wave – recent reports suggest that if the Democrats do win control, it will be by a much closer margin. Regardless of what November brings, NMHC PAC has worked hard to build and maintain allies on both sides of the aisle.
NMHC has continued to build inroads and strengthen relationships with House and Senate Leadership. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) recently spoke at the NMHC Fall Meeting. Leader Pelosi has an open-door policy to our industry and has the upper edge in becoming Speaker if the House were to flip.
NMHC PAC recently held a personal dollar event for Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY). The special evening event was hosted in Dallas at the home of Harlan Crow. NMHC leadership was represented by Gables Residential’s CEO, Sue Ansel and Trammell Crow Residential’s CEO, Ken Valach. Lincoln Property’s Senior Vice President of Client Services, Margette Hepfner spearheaded the event, which raised over $80,000 from 45 industry leaders.
As we move towards election day, one thing is certain: NMHC PAC has formed important relationships on both sides of the aisle that help ensure that NMHC will have a seat at the table when key issues important to the industry are being discussed.
Member support is crucial to these efforts. If you wish to become involved with NMHC PAC, please contact Lisa Costello, Vice President of Political Affairs, at 202-974-2325 or email@example.com.
