Federal Housing Administration Commissioner and Assistant Secretary of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Carole Galante announced her plans to step down by the end of this year in a memo circulated to her staff yesterday.
NMHC and NAA issued a statement commending Galante’s “stewardship of the Federal Housing Administration during one of the toughest economies of this generation.”
After five years at HUD, Galante will join the University of Califorina, Berkley as a professor of affordable housing. Biniam Gebre, General Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Office of Housing, will take over as acting commissioner when Galante steps down.
