NMHC PAC Chairman Sue Ansel led the first PAC conference call of the year on March 1. Held quarterly, the calls update committee members and industry executives on NMHC’s most current legislative and political efforts. This year’s kick off call also featured respected political analyst Celinda Lake who is one of the Democratic Party's leading strategists. She served as a senior advisor to the national party committees and dozens of Democratic incumbents and challengers at all levels of the electoral process.
Lake detailed how the electorate feels these days... and it’s not very optimistic. The majority of Americans believe the country is heading down the wrong track - for the longest time in the history of polling. And, although the numbers have improved somewhat, three-quarters of Americans say they are dissatisfied with how the nation is being governed.
She also outlined the fact that the Rising American Electorate consists of unmarried women, African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders, other people of color and millennials.
