Register today for a webinar on the NMHC and NAA Backgrounder entitled, “New Federal Overtime Rules and the Apartment Industry,” on Tuesday, October 25th at 2 p.m. EDT/11 a.m. PDT. The backgrounder provides details and issues for owners, operators and developers of multifamily housing to consider as they seek to comply with the overtime rule. Effective December 1, the controversial rule lifts the overtime pay threshold from $23,660 to $47, 476 and is expected to impact 4.2 million executive, administrative and professional employees who are paid by the hour or earn less than the threshold.
Backgrounder authors Partner Jennifer Redmond and Associate Brian Fong in the Labor and Employment Practice Group at Sheppard Mullin LLP will serve as webinar presenters.
The overtime rule would negatively impact the ability of multifamily employers to implement as well as their impacted employees, including property managers at traditional multifamily and student housing developments, to take advantage of flexible scheduling options. The rule would also limit career advancement opportunities for employees.
NMHC and NAA strongly oppose the overtime rule and continue to support all avenues that would either repeal or limit the rule.
