NMHC PAC is the premier fund aggressively pursuing the election and re-election of elected officials – on both sides of the aisle – who work to improve, preserve and promote the multifamily industry.
Read on to learn about this week’s Congressional spotlight, Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA).
Congresswoman Maxine Waters (D-CA)
Chair, Committee on Financial Services
With the swearing in of the 116th Congress, Congresswoman Maxine Waters took the gavel as Chairwoman of the House Committee on Financial Services. Ms. Waters is currently serving her 15th term in Congress, representing a large portion of Southern Los Angeles County, including the cities of Inglewood and Torrance.
The Committee on Financial Services has jurisdiction over many of the multifamily industry’s policy priorities. As Chairwoman, Ms. Waters has promised a robust agenda that includes improving housing affordability, GSE reform, reauthorizing the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and fair housing.
Throughout her time in Congress, NMHC has cultivated a strong working relationship with Chairwoman Waters and her staff. We work diligently with the Chairwoman to ensure that the concerns of our industry are heard and will be taken into consideration as future legislation is drafted that will impact the housing space.
