Every day elected officials make decisions that affect the apartment industry and the jobs it supports. From housing finance reform to tax policy to fair housing and energy and environmental regulations, policy choices made in Washington have a direct impact on how you operate your company and how successful you can be.
NMHC PAC is the premier fund aggressively pursuing the election and re-election of elected officials – on both sides of the aisle – who work to improve, preserve and promote the multifamily industry.
Read on to learn about this week’s Congressional spotlight, Representative Sean Duffy (R-WI-7).
Representative Sean Duffy (R-WI-7)
Ranking Member, House Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance
Congressman Sean Duffy was born and raised in Hayward, Wisconsin and his family traces back to the town’s founding. After graduating from law school, he practiced law in Hayward before becoming the District Attorney of Ashland County. Congressman Duffy was elected to Congress in 2010.
Congressman Duffy currently serves as the Ranking Member of the Financial Services Subcommittee on Housing, Community Development, and Insurance. This subcommittee has jurisdiction over many of the key issues and HUD programs that are critical to the multifamily industry. Among these key issues are housing finance reform, FHA Multifamily, National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) and TRIA.
During his time in office, Congressman Duffy has been a key ally to our industry. In fact, NMHC had the opportunity to testify before his Subcommittee at a hearing he led last September entitled “The Cost of Government Regulations on Affordable Multifamily Development.”
NMHC has developed a strong relationship with Congressman Duffy and his staff since his first days in Congress. We look forward to working with him in the future.
