NMHC PAC Chairman Bob DeWitt led the PAC quarterly conference call last week focused on our most current legislative and political efforts on behalf of the multifamily industry - and the 37 million renters that live in an apartment home.
The call provided updates on the current status and activities of the PAC and our critical advocacy efforts. Specifically, Chairman DeWitt kicked off the call with updates on the PAC Committee meetings, communications efforts and the PAC budget.
Senior legislative staff gave updates on key policy and regulatory issues that could impact the multifamily industry. Among the issues covered were tax reform, like-kind exchanges, housing finance reform, patent reform, energy policy and military housing.
DeWitt also reminded callers of the fundraising goal of $1.25 million, with funds in to date totaling nearly $700,000. In addition, PAC disbursements were discussed during the call. To date for this 2-year election cycle, we have contributed more than $750,000 and participated in over 150 federal campaigns. The PAC budget for the 2-year cycle is an impressive $2.7 million - placing NMHC PAC consistently in the top real estate PACs nationwide.
And finally, Chairman DeWitt used the opportunity to encourage call participants to attend the NMHC Fall Board Meeting to be held September 15-17 at The Fairmont Hotel in Washington, DC. House Speaker John Boehner is scheduled to speak at the corresponding NMHC luncheon on Capitol Hill on September 17.
Thank you, as always, for your support!
