Where Can Residential Construction Continue?
Our nation has an affordable housing crisis because we’ve underproduced housing of all kinds for too long. Potential shutdowns of housing construction because of the COVID-19 emergency will only exacerbate the situation. If residential construction and related workers are not deemed essential or otherwise excluded from shelter-in-place requirements, the production of housing will grind to a halt and the affordable housing crisis would worsen. Below is a map outlining what state and city essential business and stay-at-home orders exempt housing construction, allowing residential construction projects to continue.
