Based in Washington, DC, NMHC is a national association representing the interests of the larger and most prominent apartment firms in the U.S. NMHC advocates on behalf of rental housing, conducts apartment-related research, encourages the exchange of strategic business information, and promotes the desirability of apartment living. Position Summary
We are seeking a motivated and hands-on IT Manager to join our dynamic, growing technology team. This position will be responsible for overseeing the organization’s IT infrastructure, providing technical support, and ensuring the continuity of business operations. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical background, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively both independently and within a team.
Essential Responsibilties
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Lead the administration, management, and maintenance of computer systems, network, and software applications.
- Provide day-to-day technical support and troubleshooting for staff across the organization.
- Assist in the development and enforcement of IT policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Implement and maintain regular system backups and disaster recovery plans to safeguard business continuity.
- Monitor system performance and drive improvements to optimize efficiency and security.
- Collaborate with the VP of IT to manage IT budget and recommend future technological investments.
- Stay up to date on emerging technological trends and innovations and incorporate them into NMHC’s operations.
- Work with staff to assess IT needs, ensuring that technology solutions align with the organization’s goals.
- Develop and deliver training programs for staff on key, organization-wide IT systems and applications.
- Collaborate closely with our Manager Service Provider (MSP) and other IT vendors on technology-related initiatives.
Technical Responsibilities
- Serve as the Global Administrator for Microsoft 365/Azure/Intune, ensuring the security and integrity of all systems.
- Oversee the configuration, monitoring, and verification of data backups.
- Manage hardware and software procurement, installation, and support across the organization.
- Provide technical and troubleshooting support for hardware and productivity software.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in IT management or a related field.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Strong technical expertise in managing computer systems, networks, and software applications.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical staff.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with IT service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL).
- Familiarity with cloud-based technologies, for example, Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS.
- IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Cisco CCNA).
- Experience with cybersecurity and threat management.
- Knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence tools
- Experience with project management and familiarity with PM methodologies (e.g., Waterfall, Agile).
