Based in Washington, DC, NMHC is a national association representing the interests of the larger and most prominent apartment firms in the U.S. NMHC advocates on behalf of rental housing, conducts apartment-related research, encourages the exchange of strategic business information, and promotes the desirability of apartment living. Position Summary
The National Multifamily Housing Council (NMHC) is seeking an experienced PAC professional to join an influential governmental affairs team and lead fundraising and operational activities for NMHC PAC.
Essential Responsibilties
- Manage the comprehensive PAC strategy for NMHC and continually evaluate to ensure alignment with the organization’s advocacy goals;
- Manage NMHC PAC’s fundraising efforts, including donor outreach and engagement, development of fundraising campaigns and campaign materials and other strategic initiatives;
- Identify and implement strategies to grow and sustain NMHC PAC;
- Lead NMHC PAC operational efforts including resource management and deployment, compliance responsibilities and communications;
- Strengthen NMHC PAC relationships and work to expand visibility and influence of NMHC PAC;
- Advance NMHC’s Personal Dollar Program and other opportunities that grow pathways for NMHC members to broaden political engagement through individual contributions;
- Maintain a working knowledge of the federal political landscape and develop a robust network of key stakeholders;
- Collaborate across NMHC teams to promote NMHC PAC through conference and programming efforts;
- Work to promote the mission of NMHC and our members, elevate perception of the rental housing industry and carry out efforts that advance NMHC strategic goals and objectives;
- Work with external stakeholders, NMHC members and across NMHC teams in support of broader NMHC advocacy priorities;
- Build and maintain strong relationships with NMHC members, industry leaders, coalition and partner organizations and others in furtherance of NMHC goals and objectives; and
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills
- 8-10 years of significant experience in fundraising, PAC management and/or federal political engagement.
- Established relationships with federal lawmakers and their staff, political committee and party stakeholders and/or national campaign and fundraising professionals.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse audiences, including government officials, NMHC members, and senior leadership.
- Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- In-depth knowledge of Federal Election Commission (FEC) laws and congressional ethics rules, including regulations related to solicitations, contribution limits, bundling, and fundraising events.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other relevant software.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) required.
