Brella’s matchmaking algorithm allows you to find the most relevant connections from the event’s attendees. You can then chat and reserve a Brella table to meet with fellow attendees.
Details for joining Brella will be sent out to meeting attendees about a month before event starts. You will receive a unique join code for each meeting. In the meantime, prepare for the meeting by downloading the Brella app.
FAQs About Using Brella
Brella has a passwordless authentication method based on emila. Here's how it works:
- Tap Sign in
- Enter Your Email
- If you already have an acccount - you will receive an email from Brella. If you do not have an account - follow the on screen instructions to create an account
- Once your receive the email tap the "Log in to Brella" button to log in. The email will come from "Login <email@example.com>"
- After tapping the green button, it will open up a webpage that says "Go back to your original tab." Close the webpage and go back and re-open the Brella app from your app screen. You will now be logged in.
- If you are using the mobile app - be sure to tap "Open in app" to be logged into the app.
If you did not receive a magic link, or it does not work - this may be due to firewalls and spam protection on your email. The easiest option is to use another method for authentication - such as connecting via your Linkedin or Google account. Unfortunately, there is no option to revert to a password log in option. You can also try the steps recommended by Brella to resolve log in issues: https://help.brella.io/en/participants/solving-the-restrictions-with-strong-firewall-security-setups
Join codes will be distributed to conference attendees about two weeks before the start of the event. Emails containing the join code will be from firstname.lastname@example.org.
For the 2022 Student Housing Conference - join codes will be sent the morning of Friday, September 9. If you registered on September 9 or later, please wait 5 business days for your join code.
If you are unable to find the join code email, you can check for your join code when you log into the Brella app using the email address you used to register for your conference. Tap on the "ticket" icon at the bottom of the screen - it will show you the join codes.
The Brella app does not automatically show all attendees. Attendees need to join the app and opt in to participate in networking to appear in the app. Please check the app frequently as new users are added every day. Many users often set up the app closer to few days before the start of the meeting.
No. While Brella does assign tables for one-to-one, 15 minute meetings, it is not possible to reserve a specific table or meeting space in the app.

Yes. You can chat with other attendees without setting up a meeting. However, Brella requires an attendee to opt-in to networking to view or reach out to other attendees. We recommend you still opt-in to networking, but under the “Schedule” tab - > “Availability” set it to be “unavailable” every day. This way other attendees won’t be able to request a meeting with you, but you will still be able to reach out to individuals and set up meetings via chat.
No. Brella does not allow this at this time. If you would like to change your authentication method, you will need to delete your existing account and re-set up using the preferred social media authenticator. Please note that if you choose to do so, all existing meetings, interests, matches will be deleted. We recommend you keep the same account.
