Eight leaders in the real estate industry co-hosted an NMHC Personal Dollar Event in Chicago that brought together a wide-range of key players in multifamily.
Specifically, Senators Jerry Moran (R-KS) and John Thune (R-SD) joined NMHC members at a luncheon at the Union League Club on Monday, October 5.
The hosts for this event included: PAC Chairman Bob DeWitt, GID; Mike Miller, AUM; Tom Moran, Moran and Co.; Greg Mutz, AMLI Residential; David Neithercut, Equity Residential; David Schwartz, Waterton Associates; Ken Valach, Trammell Crow; and Jerry Wilkinson with Wilkinson and Associates. The luncheon was kicked off by NMHC Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Cindy Chetti. She welcomed everyone and turned it over to NMHC PAC Chairman Bob DeWitt. DeWitt spoke of the tremendous growth of the PAC and how important that has been in getting a seat at the policy table in Washington, as well as in supporting the legislators who clearly understand our industry’s vital issues.
Mike Miller followed by introducing Senators Moran and Thune who made their opening remarks. Moran and Thune then engaged in a lively dialogue on a number of leading multifamily policy and advocacy issues. This included tax reform and the frustration over Congress’ inability to act on related reform, as well as other important issues facing the industry and country.
Cindy Chetti concluded the roundtable and overall event by thanking everyone for their longstanding commitment to moving the multifamily industry forward. She also touched on the legislative outlook and priorities for the remainder of this year.

Lauren Brockman of Anbrock, LLC, and Allied Orion Holdings, LLC, along with Tim Myers of Allied Orion Group, will be co-hosting the final personal dollar campaign event for 2015. This event will be held on December 11 in Denver for Senator Michael Bennet (D-CO).
