On June 15, the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) released The American Rescue Plan: Critical Resources for the American People overview document with information on the implementation of the “American Rescue Plan,” a $1.9 trillion measure that provides relief to millions of Americans, including Emergency Rental Assistance Program (ERAP) funds.
Each recipient of ERAP funds is charged with creating its own program and determining allocation priorities for the nearly $50 billion in ERAP funds. For the past several months, NMHC has led a real estate coalition effort, urging the administration to streamline the process by creating a centralized portal with information on administering entities. We are pleased the Treasury took our recommendation into account and established an online hub of state and local programs to help residents and housing providers find rental assistance programs in their local areas. NMHC will continue to provide feedback to Treasury and HUD regarding program implementation.
For more information on the Emergency Rental Assistance Programs (ERA 1 and ERA 2), please visit the NMHC Rental Assistance FAQ webpage.
