The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) administers a number of loan, insurance and securitization multifamily programs through the Federal Housing Agency (FHA) and the Government National Mortgage Association (Ginnie Mae). As the COVID-19 crisis has unfolded, HUD announced a number of programmatic changes aimed at addressing the financial challenges created by the COVID-19 crisis. In addition, HUD has been tasked with the implementation of HUD related provisions included in recently enacted congressional relief packages, which include the CARES Act.
This fact sheet outlines some of the critical aspects of the current programmatic changes and resources developed by HUD.
Additional details can be found in HUD’s FAQ document, which is updated on a regular basis. Access HUD’s fact sheet here: https://www.hud.gov/sites/dfiles/Housing/documents/HUD_Multifamily_Corona_QA_FINAL.pdf
